Illinois Insights – January 2020 Edition

The January 2020 Edition of ILEPI’s newsletter, Illinois Insights, has been released.

The Illinois Economic Policy Institute (ILEPI) has released the January 2020 Edition of our quarterly newsletter, Illinois Insights. Join us for our third annual fundraiser in less than one month on February 10, 2020. See the newsletter for details.

High property taxes have burdened Illinois homeowners for a long time. The primary reason Illinois ranks 7th in the nation in property tax collections per capita is because school districts depend on them. Read the newsletter for potential state solutions to provide property tax relief.

In addition, the January 2020 Edition of Illinois Insights highlights ILEPI’s study on apprenticeship programs. From the number of training hours and graduation rates to the diversity of classes and the lifetime earnings of graduates, Illinois’ joint labor-management construction apprenticeship programs are rivaling– and in some cases exceeding– the performance of the state’s colleges and universities. Read the newsletter to find out how registered apprenticeships are a great option for many young Illinois residents.

As always, we’ve updated Illinois’ economic indicators. Illinois gained 40,600 jobs from November 2018 to November 2019. The state’s economy has expanded for 94 straight months.

Be sure to check out the January 2020 Edition for all of this and more!
