The April 2020 Edition of ILEPI’s newsletter, Illinois Insights, has been released.
The Illinois Economic Policy Institute (ILEPI) has released the April 2020 Edition of our quarterly newsletter, Illinois Insights. This edition is, of course, primarily about the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Three new ILEPI reports show policies that Illinois could enact to combat the COVID-19 recession. While Congress passed a $2 trillion coronavirus relief package and has extended limited paid sick leave to affected workers, these three new ILEPI reports focus on state-level policies that could support employers, protect workers, and stabilize Illinois’ labor market and economy during the current recession: paid parental leave, paid sick leave, and a work-share program for Illinois.
As always, we’ve updated Illinois’ economic indicators. Illinois gained 18,300 jobs from February 2019 to February 2020. Unfortunately, these numbers are prior to the current economic downturn that Illinois and the rest of the country are now facing.
In an unrelated front, we want to thank everyone who came out and supported ILEPI at our Third Annual Fundraiser in February. We had a successful year!
